what, now SM Entertainment wants to teach math?

After the influx of girl groups this summer, it isn’t over quite yet. SM Entertainment is set to unleash a fresh new one by the name of f(x), which is supposed to symbolize this group’s ability to embody whatever style they want.

f(x) consists of five fresh young members: Victoria Song (Chinese member with modeling background), Krystal Jung (sister of SNSD’s Jessica and maknae), Sul-li (previous child actress), Luna (trainee), and most interestingly, Amber (boyish member I think looks like DBSK’s Micky during Mirotic days).

Their debut single looks to be titled “Lachata“, which with my mediocre Spanish translates into “the boat.” Although there has been enough estrogen this summer, f(x) has caught my attention. They are bringing more attitude and flavor to the scene rather than the same ol’ sugar and sex we see time and time again. Just from the teaser alone, f(x) performance ability looks promising and charisma looks sharp.

I’m also very intrigued by super tomboy Amber. We’ve seen androgynous males before in boy bands, but an androgynous female in a girl group? Why, that is just in a whole other realm of possibility for the KPOP music scene.

Also, I’m kind of loving their name. It’s completely stupid, yet oh so creative and brilliant at the same time. Way to bring calculus into the mix SM.
